MR. Christian Konrad
My curiosity for polar regions brought me as an electronic engineer from Austria to polar and marine research. From 2010 onwards I was around in Arctic and Antarctic with various tasks in atmospheric, geologic and marine research. For about eight years now I'm developing imaging systems with auxiliary sensors for determination of parameters of the biological carbon pump. The application area of developed instruments ranges from short term deployment
from ships to longterm moored instruments.
The range of my expertise therefore starts with hardware development (mechanical, electronical, optical) via system programming with various languages to image processing.
Being responsible for the development of instruments, deploying them during campaigns and post process the data afterwards keeps my job eclectic and fascinating.
