3D Camera Stage for imaging marine aggregates in Gels
The gels used in this context are petri dishes filled with a cryo-gel to collect organic matter with drifting traps in the water column. Usually, these gel petri dishes are put into cylinders which then are placed in drifting trap arrays in the sea at different depth. To measure and evaluate the content of these gels we developed the 3D Camera stage.
The system consists of an XYZ-Stage and a 12MPixel camera with telecentric lens. Controlled via software, images of gels can be taken. Subsequently the images are stacked and stitched and analyzed by software.
