Scientific Computing (Photon Science)
I'm a staff scientist in the scientific computing group within the photon science division at DESY. I specialise in crystallography, in particular data processing software for serial crystallography. My main focus is software development, my "flagship" project being the CrystFEL suite for serial crystallography. Recently, we've been working on data processing in real time, with no storage of data required at all. This will address the "data deluge" problem, where faster detectors and new methodologies produce unmanageable volumes of data. Earlier in my career, I worked on electron diffraction, mostly of inorganic substances.
